When we speak, I would like to hear what you are dealing with in your life and what you are hoping to gain from counseling. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have of me, such as what to expect in therapy and any specific questions about my therapeutic style. Meeting for an initial session will then give you an opportunity to explain in more detail your experiences and struggles, and we can discuss how we can work to meet your goals.

I return email and phone messages as soon as possible, usually within 24 business hours. Email is the most efficient way to reach me and can be used for scheduling but not for discussing clinical issues. Please be aware that my voicemail is confidential, but I cannot guarantee the confidentiality of email due to the lack of Internet security, though my email is HIPAA-compliant. Texting is the least reliable way to reach me, so please do not assume I received your message unless you receive a response. Communication outside sessions is primarily in regard to scheduling and payment arrangements.
If you need to reschedule or cancel a session, please provide at least 48 hours notice to avoid being charged for the session. Providing more than 48 hours notice is helpful when you know in advance you cannot attend, allowing me time to offer the appointment to others who may be waiting.
Clients are provided a login to access a secure HIPAA-compliant portal.
The portal allows clients to:
complete intake paperwork
view upcoming scheduled appointments
schedule and cancel appointments
place a card on file to be charged for future sessions
pay online for past sessions
download superbills for insurance reimbursement
complete and submit documents
send secure messages
My office is located at 5 Market Street, Portsmouth NH which is in Market Square on the corner of Market and Congress. The entrance to my office building is between Alie Jewelers and Footnotes shoe store. After walking upstairs to the second floor, the waiting room is at the end of the hallway on the left. Please be aware the office is not handicap-accessible. Parking options include the parking garage, street and lot parking, as well as the free shuttle service on Thursday and Friday evenings during peak season.
